Master Economics, Quantitative Economics, Quantitative Finance

Exams in Advanced Topics and Seminars with the same examination number can only be passed once, regardless of subtitles. This basically means that online registration in QIS for a second seminar or lecture in Advanced topics in the same module group will be rejected if you have already passed one seminar/Advanced topics in this module group successfully.

Currently only the module group for Environmental and Resource Economics offers more than one seminar for examination.

Reminder:

Students in the B.Sc. Program of Economics will automatically change their degree-specific examination regulations in Winterterm 17/18 if the last exam has not successfully been passed before December 10th, 2017. For Bachelor theses the date of delivery applies, for written or oral exams the official date of the exam applies.

Please use the first exam period for your last exams. Your BA Thesis has to be officially registered for latest on 10th of October 2017.

Students in our Masterprograms will automatically change their degree- specific examination Regulations in summer term 17 if the last exam has not successfully been passed before March 31st, 2017. For Master Theses the date of delivery applies. For written or oral exams the official date of the exam applies.

Preliminary Courses on Mathematics, Statistics and Econometrics

The master programmes 'Economics', 'Quantitative Economics', 'Quantitative Finance' and 'Environmental and Resource Economics ' require incoming students to be familiar with the mathematical, statistical  and econometrical subjects treated in the bachelor program. Two preliminary courses will be offered before the official beginning of the winter semester 2016/2017 to revitalize the associated  notations and techniques.

These courses are not mandatory but strongly recommended to students with a weaker confidence in their quantitative skills.

This notice is to clarify the information on seminar election given in Appendix 4 of the Fachprüfungsordnung M.Sc. Economics 2014: When choosing a seminar, please be aware of the examination number. It is not possible to elect seminars with the same examination number twice. This basically means that you can only choose one seminar per module group - regardless of its subtitle (exception: in the module group "Environmental an Ressource Economics", seminars with different examination numbers are offered).

This class, organised by PerLe (Projekt erfolgreiches Lehren und Lernen) in cooperation with the Department of Economics, is aimed at all (Master) students that need to write a seminar paper and are not sure how to approach this project.

This is an elective course that focuses specifically on the writing process. It is not an alternative to the seminar preparation course hosted by the ZBW or other seminar preparation/accompanying courses.
